#District8 Update: Edmondson Village Shopping Center

I have been in ongoing communication with the owner of the Edmondson Village Shopping Center regarding the status of the reconstruction following the fire in November 2019:

1. The delay in demolition of the fire damaged portion of the center was due to a lengthy Baltimore City Fire Department investigation into the cause of the fire.

2. The Baltimore City Fire Department has notified my office and the owner that the investigation is concluded and they could not determine the cause of the fire. This is likely due to the severe nature of the fire and the length of time it was burning.

3. The property owners insurance company will continue to investigate further now that the Baltimore City Fire Department has concluded it’s investigation.

4. Some site demolition will occur on January 21st and January 22nd, I’m not sure when it will be complete just yet.

5. Of the (10) businesses impacted by the fire, (4) have requested to be relocated within the shopping center. I do not have any further details yet on this process.

6. I do not currently have timeline to share regarding reconstruction of the damaged portion of the site at this time. But as the process moves forward I will continue to provide updates and will be hosting a in-person community discussion on this in the very near future. Stay tuned!
